Our story begins with an experimental move from Manchester, CT to the South West. During this period of time I spent many days day dreaming about what I REALLY wanted to do with my career while driving hundreds of miles between sales calls in a fading industry of print. I felt like being in sales was not my calling and always found comfort and happiness around my dogs and cats. One day I had dropped my dog off at a large box store for grooming and waited all day for her return. As the day marched on I became concerned that my dog could be in some sort of distress or worse. – I was wrong, she was perfectly fine. However at that moment I realized that if I could groom dogs myself, the process would be better. A smaller salon with a more welcoming environment. Less dogs on premises and faster turn around times. I didn’t want my dog to be whisked away into a back room. I wanted to pick her up and be delighted by her soft fur, lovely scent and cute accessories. I wanted to make that experience a reality for my community. When we finally stopped adventuring and returned back to Connecticut I turned my attention to making my day dreams a reality. I mentored for years under a highly experienced dog groomer and eventually went on to open Sugar and Spice Dog Grooming in Colchester CT in 2014. My dedication to the trade did not fail me. I have groomed thousands of dogs, tried every product imaginable, survived covid days as an essential worker, a catastrophic shop flood, had two children of my own and have experienced so much more life. For better or worse 10 years later we are once again spreading our wings and sharing that same vision I had many years ago with the fine folks of Manchester, Bolton, Glastonbury, South Windsor and all surrounding towns. The location of our new shop felt like it meant to be. Driving by one evening my husband Richie shared he always thought he would have a business at the East Center Street Location. (Richie was raised in the Highland Park area of Manchester and always had a tender place in his heart for his home town.) We knew we had to grab the location when a vacant spot was up for grabs. Now with the expertise and talent of a creative team of collaborating dog groomers Highland Park Dog Grooming LLC will be proudly be opening our historic doors. We are honored to serve you!
